Good Change

Isaiah shares the vision he has been given of the new thing that God will do for Israel.

Read Isaiah 2:1-5.

In this reading, Isaiah shares the vision he has been given of the new thing that God will do for Israel. The problem with something new, though, is that something old must go. I wonder if this is why we often have such a difficult time accepting change, even if it’s “good” change. We would rather hold on to what we know even if it’s not working, than to lean into the uncertainty and the challenge of trying something different. In this reading, what must go are the tools for violence and destruction. Weapons of war will be melted down and repurposed into agricultural implements.

What new thing would you like to see God doing in your life? In our world? What old thing(s) must go for that to happen?

In prayer, ask for a willingness to let go of the status quo enough to give God room to work in your life and in the world.
