Seen and Unseen

A big part of faith in Jesus is trusting that God is continually at work.

Read 2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1.

“We look not at what can be seen, but at what cannot be seen. For what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal” (4:18). A big part of faith in Jesus is trusting that God is continually at work in our lives, in the lives of others, and in the world around us. Jesus conquered sin and death and reconciled humankind to God. Yet, there is still brokenness in our world. There is still inequity and violence and hatred and greed and pride. Sometimes it is hard to look beyond those things and see God at work, offering a different path forward, creating new life – life that begins right now, even in the midst of difficulty, and lasts for eternity.

When you look at the state of our world right now, where do you see God still at work? What evidence is there of God’s steadfast love and faithfulness? In what difficult situations do you see new life springing forth?

In prayer, ask God to keep your heart and your mind focused on these eternal promises, especially when life gets hard.
